The name Zikzika in the Lakota Sioux language means “the one whose skin stretches three times his length”.

In Lakota tradition the Otter symbolizes parenting, mating for life and furiously protecting their mate.  They are always happy and playful.

Water is the symbol of the spiritual flow of life.  The Otter reminds us to go in and out of the spiritual side of life.

Many sacred artifacts are encased in the Otter skin as a reminder to balance the physical with the spiritual.
