Lyle E. Johnson

 

Born:  August 19, 1942, Myton, Utah

Married:  July 13, 1963 to Orilla Shaw

Children:  Justin, Randy, Billy, Julie, Ercel, Andrew, Michael, Willis, Ruth Ann, Snellen, Curg, Jeremiah, Josh, Jonathan, Lyle, Tyrel

Education:  Studied accounting at Utah Business School at Salt Lake City. Began studying art under various artists in 1974 primarily sculpture.

Art Career:  Won drawing contests, ages 6 to 12…Taxidermist ages 13 to 24…Boat designer and mockup man ages 24 to 31.  Started spending time with sculptors: Stan Johnson, Edward Fraughton and Blair Buswell learning techniques in 1974 to 1975…Studied extensively works of Cyrus Dallin and completed various Indian and Wildlife pieces in 1976 to 1977…Completed eight different sculptures of NFL action under a license agreement with NFL properties in 1978 to 1981…Undertook program of sculpting World Champion horses to prepare for monumental work…1982 to 1983 started monument program January 1984 to present.
